Sandiganbayan judge inspects Gigi Reyes detention at Camp Karingal

MANILA, Philippines—The Sandiganbayan Third Division on Monday conducted an ocular inspection at Camp Karingal where lawyer Jessica “Lucila” Reyes is set to be detained.

Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang conducted the ocular inspection in Camp Karingal, specifically the female dormitory, sources said.

The inspection came after the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) told the Sandiganbayan that they cannot secure a “high-profile and high-risk detainee.”

Under Rule 113 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure, an accused should be delivered to the nearest police station or jail.

Reyes has already requested that she be detained at the Philippine National Police.
