Peñalosa brods fight Oct. 1

Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. will stake his unbeaten record when he takes on Donriel Marcos of Lanao del Norte on Oct. 1 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

Peñalosa (6W-0L) is coming off a big third round TKO win in a televised fight card against Thailand’s Kong Kiatpracha Gym.

Last April at the the Cebu City Sports Institute Arena in Pasil, San Nicolas, Dave fought as an amateur on the same card that saw Dodie J.r win his fourth pro bout, a first round KO win against Roel Bacquiano. Dave also stopped his opponent, Crucino Dagatan, in the first round.

Dodie and Dave are the sons of former two-division world champ Diosdado “Dodie Boy” Peñalosa.

Michael Fareñas (32W-3L-3D, 26 KOs) and defending champion Edgar Gabejan (22W-25L-4D, 6 KOs) will dispute the Philippine Featherweight championship. Gabejan won the title by split decision over Vin-Vin Rufino in Binangonan, Rizal.

Fareñas, a protege of former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa, beat Mexican Fernando Beltran Jr. by split decision on the undercard of the Brian Viloria-Julio Cesar Miranda title fight in Hawaii. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
