Today, July 7, is the 17th death anniversary of National Artist for Theater and Literature Rolando Tinio. Born on March 5, 1937, in Tondo, Manila, Tinio was a known director, actor, playwright, poet and teacher. Aside from nine Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for literature, Tinio was also named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men in 1967 as well as the recipient of the City of Manila’s Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan.
