Ex-Enrile chief aide Gigi Reyes to spend weekend at Sandigan jail

MANILA, Philippines – The former chief aide of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile will spend the weekend at the Sandiganbayan detention cell, a court official said Friday.

Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes surrendered on the same day after a warrant of arrest was issued against her for plunder, a non-bailable offense, for her alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

In a resolution, the third division ordered Reyes to be detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Quezon City.

But since the court is requiring the BJMP to make a report after three days on its capacity to secure the accused, the court said Reyes in the meantime should be detained at the Sandiganbayan detention center for women at the court’s basement.

“The Security and Sheriffs Service is hereby directed to keep the accused in its custody and not allow the accused to be moved, removed and relocated until further orders from the court,” the resolution read.

Asked why Revilla was ordered detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, Pulma said in the third division they committed the accused to the BJMP.

He said had Enrile also surrendered to the court, Enrile would spend the night at the BJMP, as well.
