5 Tau Gamma members nabbed over hazing in Cavite

The CCTV footage at the 29th floor of the One Archer’s Place shows this man talking to the phone while two others are dragging Guillo Cesar Servando along the hallway next to the elevator. The man, according to the Manila Police District, is one of the 2-3 persons being investigated after they were seen on the CCTV footage escorting the four victims to the condominium after the alleged hazing rites on Saturday evening. CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines—Five members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity in Cavite have been arrested after being caught conducting initiation rites in Trece Martires City, the police said Friday.

Police Officer 3 Benjamin Villanueva Jr., the officer assigned to the case, said the authorities were to file physical injury and other charges in relation to the anti-hazing law against the suspects Friday afternoon.

Villanueva told the Inquirer in a phone interview the fraternity members were arrested around noon Thursday  near a river in Barangay Cabezas.

He said a resident passed by the group of young men and reported it to the village officials.

“They were first brought to the village hall and there they admitted they were members of the Tau Gamma,” Villanueva said.

The authorities also confiscated two paddles marked with “TGP.”

The suspects were identified as Raymark Bolante, 24; Jeric Locanas, 19; Elizander Allan Dejano, 19; Mark Antinjuedra, 23; and Jerome Contemprato, 18.

With them were neophytes Felix Sabio, 19; Jhon Jhon Santos, 20; and a 17-year-old fraternity applicant, who were sent home Thursday after being treated in a hospital.

The neophytes “wobbled as they entered the village hall. They had bruises on their legs although the injuries were not fatal,” Villanueva said.

The same fraternity was involved in the death of College of St. Benilde student Guillo Cesar Servando, who died after going through hazing in Manila last Saturday.
