The Manila Hotel was inaugurated and officially opened on July 4, 1912. During World War II, Gen. Douglas MacArthur made the hotel his command post. Manila Hotel was extensively remodeled in 1976 and reopened in 1977. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
