MANILA, Philippines—Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago has new names for Senator Juan Ponce Enrile: “Drama king, “maniac” and “flirt.”
“Noong malakas pa ang katawan nya, gustong-gusto nya akong sirain sa pamamagitan ng ganyan pagkatapos ngayon, hindi na lumalabas, drama king,” Santiago said during a press conference at the Senate on Wednesday.
(When he was still strong, he was so eager to destroy me and now he does not leave his house, drama king.)
She particularly criticized Enrile’s request for a hospital arrest in case the Sandiganbayan orders his detention in connection with the plunder case filed against him over the “pork barrel” scam.
If Enrile’s request would be granted by the court, then Santiago said all senior citizens or those 60 years old and above who are in detention should also be placed under hospital arrests.
“E he’s (Enrile) asking for a special treatment e. Masyado namang garapal yan,” she said.
“Nang nagnakaw ng pera ng gobeyenro, hindi naman sya nakihati e. E ngayon na hirap na sya, gusto nya sya lang ang hindi mahirapan? Bakit hindi sya makihati sa kahirapan nitong mga detention prisoners?”
(When he stole the money, he never shared it. But now he wants to spare himself from the suffering. Why don’t he suffer along with other detention prisoners?)
“He has no illness except old age. I even doubt if his sexual urge is declining, dahil ang pagkalaam ko last na nagbyahe siya sa Cagayan, napansin lang nya yung dalagita na nagtitinda ng mais, pagkauwi nya sa Cagayan, pinasundo nya yung dalagita na yun. Anong klaseng maniac yan?” Santiago asked.
(He has no illness except old-age. I even doubt if his sexual urge is declining because from what I know , the last time he travelled to Cagayan, she noticed a lady selling corn and when he got home in Cagayan, he asked someone to fetch that lady. What kind of maniac is that?)
“Pagkatapos ngayon gusto nya special treatment sya? Tumigil na nga sya, nag-aarte yan. Ang lakas-lakas nya e…”
Santiago said Enrile’s real cause of his illness was his stem cell treatments as well as his vanity.
“…Sobrang banidad nya (He’s so vain), masyadong malandi na lalaki…(he’s flirtatious),” the lady senator added.
Santiago reiterated that she was against any VIP treatment for any detainees “unless all other detention prisoners in the country are placed in the same situation.”
The senator also lashed at those who sympathized with detained senators , who were reportedly complaining about the rats and cockroaches inside their cells.
“We are always saying kawawa naman, ang dami-daming mga daga at mga ipis, did we ever ask the rats and the cockroaches how they feel?” Santiago asked.
