MANILA, Philippines– Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will experience moderate to heavy rains on Friday due to a low pressure area (LPA), according to the weather bureau.

“Metro Manila, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon will have moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The LPA was last observed 240 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora. Pagasa earlier said this was not likely to become a storm.

On Thursday, LPA-induced rain flooded several parts of Metro Manila.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest to west will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough, Pagasa said.

Light to moderate winds blowing also from the southwest will prevail over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas.
