Marikina to hold flood drill Thursday

MANILA, Philippines—The Marikina City government will test its early warning sirens near the Marikina River on Thursday as the rainy season sets in.

“In preparation for the coming rainy days, the Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will test its ‘early warning’ sirens on Thursday, 9-11 a.m. Please do not panic if you hear the sirens. That’s only for testing,” the Marikina City government posted on its Twitter account.

It also warned residents in nearby cities of Quezon City and San Mateo not to be alarmed with the sirens.
