KUALA LUMPUR—A man in Patna, India, has been arrested for beheading a boy believing that doing so would heal his three ailing children, according to a Tamil daily newspaper in Malaysia.

Tuntun Mahto was arrested at the Badi Pahari village in Patna on Sunday over the June 14 murder of the boy, said Malaysia Nanban.

Patna police said Mahto beheaded the boy with a sickle and threw the severed head into the Mushari River the same night — hours after discussing his plan over drinks with his friend Palthal.

The boy’s severed limbs were recovered in different places. Palthal got wind of police hunting for the killer and surrendered. He confessed to the crime.
