Today, Monday, June 23, 2014, is the anniversary of the Department of Health (DOH). On June 23, 1898, the Department of Public Works, Education and Hygiene (currently known as Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Education and DOH, respectively) was formally proclaimed by President Emilio Aguinaldo. On Sept. 29, 1898, a board of health for the City of Manila was created through General Order No. 15.
