Palace: ‘Pork’ arrests ‘step forward in judicial process’

MANILA,Philippines — The issuance of warrants of arrest against Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and others involved in the pork barrel scam was a “significant step forward in the judicial process,” Malacanang said Friday.

“The issuance of warrants of arrest against Senator Revilla and others implicated in the plunder case pertaining to the alleged misuse of public funds is a significant step forward in the judicial process” Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.

“We believe that through a fair and just trial, accountability will be clearly established and in like manner, those that are innocent will be exonerated,” Coloma added.

The Sandiganbayan on Friday morning issued an arrest warrant against Revilla and 32 others involved in the multi-billion pork barrel scam.
