MANILA, Philippines — Continuous rains in Maguindanao for the past few days have affected over 10,000 families, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Thursday.
The report said that 10,347 families from seven out of 12 towns had been affected by flooding. The affected were:
Mamasapano – 2,000 families
Rajah Buayan – 755
Datu Salibo – 300
Kabuntalan – 3,000
Sultan Barongis – 1,514
Datu Abdullah Sangki – 773
Northern Kabuntalan – 2,095
Other towns affected by the rains were Sharif Saydona, Datu Piang, Ampatuan, Pagalungan and Datu Montawal.
There were no casualties and evacuation reported, the NDRRMC said.
Accumulation of water hyacinth in Tamontaka River and Rio Grande de Mindanao was also observed.
An assessment is ongoing on the affected towns, the NDRRMC also said.
