FEU makes UAAP finals
THE 74TH UAAP basketball tournament will see a rematch of last year’s finals.
This after the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws toppled the second-seed Adamson Soaring Falcons, 78-74, to grab the final ticket to the championship round yesterday at the Araneta Coliseum.
FEU will take on the reigning champions Ateneo Blue Eagles anew in the finals.
The Tamaraws were made to sweat and bleed for the chance as the Falcons, which held a twice-to-beat advantage, crept back from an 11-point deficit with just 2:46 remaining in the game behind the scintillating efforts of Minglanilla-native Jerick Canada.
FEU entered the final canto on top, 57-50, and pushed that lead to 70-59.
Canada hit back-to-back layups that sliced the deficit to seven, 63-70. Later, he canned consecutive three-pointers that bridged the gap to just three, 71-74, with 1:44 left.
