MANILA, Philippines—A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck off Laoag City in northern province of Ilocos Norte at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the quake that occurred at a depth of 28 kilometers and centered 102 kilometers northwest of Calayan town in Cagayan.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
