Indian man shot dead by suspected motorcycle thieves

murderKIDAPAWAN CITY — Suspected motorcycle thieves shot dead an Indian national engaged in money-lending from this city while the victim was on his way to collect from his debtors in Kabacan, North Cotabato on Tuesday.

Supt. Jordaine Maribojo, Kabacan town police chief, said Surinder Singh, who temporarily resided at Apo Sandawa Homes Subd., was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Kayaga when flagged down by unidentified men.

Maribojo said witnesses told investigators that one of the men – without saying any word – pumped bullets on Singh using a .45 caliber pistol. The victim, who became the fourth victim of fatal “agaw-motor (motorcycle theft)” activities in the town since the start of the year,
instantly died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Maribojo said the suspects then rode Singh’s motorcycle and sped to an unknown direction.

“We are looking into motorcycle theft as the motive behind the killing, since the suspects only carted away his motorcycle. His personal belongings, as well as his daily collections were intact,” he told reporters.

Since January, four people—including Singh—had fallen victim to armed motorcycle thieves, who have no qualms about harming their victims.
