Heart patient’s son asks Inquirer readers for help

DAYAUON

With a few months to go before her retirement, high school teacher Salud Ogalesco-Dayauon was attending a seminar in Virac, Catanduanes, on May 20 for the Department of Education’s K to 12 program when she suffered a heart attack.

Dayauon, 64, has been teaching Filipino at Panganiban National High School (CAIC Compound) in Panganiban, Catanduanes, for 36 years.

“The next few hours after the attack were the most crucial. The  prayers offered for her [recovery] must have been so numerous because she survived,” said her 28-year-old son Joemart.

From a hospital in Virac, Dayauon was transferred to The Medical City in Pasig City as soon as her condition stabilized.

Although thankful for all those who helped save the life of his mother, including doctors led by Dr. Rene Reyes, Joemart now faces another problem: where to get the money to pay for his mother’s hospital bills which now amount to P900,000.

“I am appealing to your readers. I would forever be  grateful to them for my mom’s second chance at life,” he said. His mother is the main breadwinner in the family as his father Anjuario is battling diabetes.

He said that his mother underwent a heart operation on June 2. Although doctors have declared her out of harm’s way, they have not declared her fit to go home.

Joemart Dayauon can be contacted at 0919-8142679 and 0927-4073861. Donations can reach him through his Philippine National Bank account (Account No. 2156379207).
