The police are hunting down a 19-year-old recording artist who allegedly stabbed and seriously wounded his friend late Thursday night in Makati City.
Sherwin Andrada, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo in Makati, went into hiding after the attack on John Matthew Tamonte, 17, of Barangay Cembo, around 10:50 p.m. at the suspect’s house.
Andrada is an ABS-CBN recording artist using the stage name Wynn Andrada and who launched a self-titled album last year after being a finalist in the songwriting competition Himig Handog.
The stabbing incident occurred at Andrada’s house on Felipe Street, where Tamonte showed up after receiving a phone call from the suspect asking him to come over, according to a report reaching the Southern Police District.
While the two teeners were talking, Andrada suddenly drew a knife and stabbed Tamonte twice. Andrada’s father saw the commotion and tried to stop his son, but Andrada managed to break loose and stabbed the victim for a third time in the back.
The wounded Tamonte still managed to return home and was treated later at Ospital ng Makati in Barangay Pembo, where he remained confined Friday.
It remained unclear what provoked the attack as Tamonte had yet to give a statement to the police. Andrada was last seen fleeing in his car.
