MANILA, Philippines–The Supreme Court marked its 113th anniversary on Wednesday with Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno exhorting judges and court employees to value the independence of the judiciary.
“It was the Constitution that gave us the independence so that we can fulfill our duty to uphold justice in our country,” Sereno, speaking in Filipino, said in a message posted on YouTube.
This year’s celebration theme is “Isang Malayang Korte Supreme sa Isang Malayang Bansa” (An Independent Supreme Court in an Independent Country).–Jerome Aning
