Angat Dam water level continues to drop below critical level—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – The water level in Angat Dam continues to drop despite the downpour in Metro Manila and provinces in Luzon early Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the water level in Angat fell to 171.14 meters Tuesday morning from 171.38 meters the previous day. Critical level is at 180 meters and normal high water level is at 212 meters.

The Angat Dam in Norzagary, Bulacan, supplies over 90 percent of Metro Manila’s water needs. Its all time low record was during the El Nino season in July 2010 with 157.56 meters.

Other dams in Luzon whose water levels subsided include:

* Ambuklao – 742.31 meters from 742.52 meters

* Pantabangan — 180.54 meters from 181.78 meters

* Magat — 168.24 meters from 168.45 meters

* Caliraya — 286.60 meters from from 286.86 meters

Meanwhile, dams whose water levels have increased were:

* Ipo — 99.96 meters from 99.79 meters

* La Mesa — 77.29 meters from 77.25 meters

* Binga — 570321 meters from 570.10 meters

* San Roque — 236.97 meters from 236.87 meters
