Body found in Pasig River

MANILA, Philippines–The body of a beggar who lived in the streets was found floating on Pasig River near the Muelle de la Industria Road in Binondo, Manila, early Sunday morning.

Homicide investigator SPO2 Milbert Balinggan of the Manila Police District said the cause of death was still under investigation although they believe that the still unidentified victim may have drowned after he jumped into the river on Saturday.

The man described as between 40 and 45 years old was reportedly suffering from mental illness. His body, which according to the police did not bear any wounds, was found at 6:20 a.m. floating near the Galleria de Binondo Building.–Maricar B. Brizuela
