MANILA, Philippines—Major General Felicito Virgilio Trinidad has been named as the new commanding general of the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom).
He will replace Lieutenant General Gregorio Catapang who was recently appointed as Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1982, he is currently the head of the Army’s 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division based in Zamboanga del Sur.
As Nolcom chief based in Tarlac, he will oversee two Army infantry divisions in Isabela and Nueva Ecija, a naval base in La Union and an air base in Clark.
Captain Gina Daet, Nolcom spokesperson, said that Trinidad will assume post on June 9.
A shake up in the military’s key positions is seen as AFP chief General Emmanuel Bautista retires in July.
