MANILA, Philippines—Lawyer of Janet Lim Napoles said they see no point in providing the government the document needed to further boost the cases in the pork barrel fund scam with the Ombudsman’s denial of their immunity bid.

“Syempre bakit namin ibibigay what’s the need kung hindi naman kami tinatanggap, di ba?” Atty. Bruce Rivera, spokesman for Napoles, said.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales denied Napoles’ application for immunity saying she appears to be one of the most guilty.

Rivera said they would appeal the Ombudsman’s decision.

“We are not saying we will not cooperate with the government. What we are simply saying is if it’s not immunity then we will have to file an MR (motion for reconsideration) yun lang naman ang puwede naming gawin,” Rivera said.

“If they decide not to listen to us because they have their own investigation and based on their investigation, only the three [senators] should be charged, we cannot do anything about it,” he added.

Rivera added that if the Ombudsman does not see the need for Napoles’ testimony they would not insist further.

He said they would exhaust all the legal means but “if they feel we are not telling the truth, then we cannot do anything about it.”
