200 houses burn as fire hits Zamboanga City neighborhood

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines–A big fire was ongoing in Sitio Campo Islam, Barangay (Village) Lower Calarian here, beside the Interco Company, an oil depot, Wednesday night.

Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, city police chief, said the fire broke out at around 7:20 p.m. and “it is still raging until now.”

Elmer Apolinario, the Assistant City Administrator, said more or less 200 houses were burned even as “firefighting operation is still going on.”
