MANILA, Philippines—Four soldiers from the Marine Battalion Landing Team 4 were wounded in a firefight with unidentified armed men in Palawan on Wednesday.
The Marines were traversing the Pancol village in Taytay town at about 8 a.m. when they were fired upon, Western Command spokesperson First Lieutenant Cheryl Tindog said.
The troops suffered “superficial wounds” and an aircraft was immediately sent to evacuate them for proper medical attention. They were brought to Puerto Princesa by noon.
An investigation is still ongoing to identify the perpetrators, Tindog said.
