QC police launch ‘Desk on Wheels’ program

/ 04:48 AM June 03, 2014

MANILA, Philippines–Residents of Quezon City will soon no longer need to go to a police station to report a crime with the launching on Monday of the (QCPD) “Desk on Wheels” program.

Chief Supt. Richard Albano, QCPD director, said that under the program, an 18-foot container van would serve as a mobile police office. It would be equipped with logbooks, portable tables and chairs and would go around the city to entertain walk-in complainants.

The Fairview police station was chosen as the venue for the soft launch of the project. Albano said the QCPD was eyeing a three-man crew from every police station to man the Desk on Wheels office in selected areas in Quezon City.

They will conduct an initial investigation of the complaints filed by walk-ins or direct them to the nearest police station should the complaint be beyond their jurisdiction or capability. “The station commanders shall identify the strategic areas where the Desk on Wheels will be positioned,” Albano said.–Julie M.
