MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup arrived early Sunday aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 103.
“I so miss the Philippines, thank you so much for being here, for being there for me, I never felt alone. I’m so proud to be Filipino,” Supsup told the media in a press conference around 6:55 a.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Supsup represented the country in the most prestigious beauty pageant that was held this year in Sao Paolo Brazil on September 13.
Makati is scheduled to give Supsup a ticker tape parade around the city on Monday that will include a 3:30 p.m. visit to her alma mater, Makati High School, where she graduated salutatorian in 2003.
From there, Supsup will proceed to the Makati Central Fire Station at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Malugay Street, the staging area for the parade that will traverse the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue up to Edsa.
Joey Salgado, the city’s public information officer, said there would be no traffic rerouting during the parade, which is expected to last for about an hour.
