Young Writers of Summer 2014: Poetry

The kids are all right

To encourage young students to write and keep them busy during their summer break, the Inquirer, through the Junior Inquirer and this section, launched the Young Writers Summer Program.

Yes, we actually invited the texting and tweeting generation to send in their original poems, short stories and essays for possible publication. To be honest, we prepared ourselves for fractured language and bad writing, but we were wrong. We’re glad we were wrong.

The good news is that the kids are still in love with words. There is angst and there is anger, but overall, their poetry is delightful and their prose, engaging.

FEATURED STORIES
