Reports said an Everlasting Bus collided with a Joyselle Express bus it was tailing on the westbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay (village) Central.
Traffic investigator Noel Moya, of the QC Police District’s traffic sector 5, told INQUIRER.net over the phone that both buses were heading to Cubao when the accident happened near Philcoa.
Reports said the driver of Joyselle Express bus was unloading passengers when his engine died. The speeding Everlasting bus then rear-ended the Joyselle bus.
Moya said the drivers of Everlasting and Joyselle are currently under the custody of police to determine who was liable in the collision.
All casualties were passengers of the two buses, he added.
Claudette Nalo, of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metro Base, said the injured passengers were rushed to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
Nalo said traffic on Commonwealth’s westbound lane had been cleared as of posting time.
Police said investigation is still ongoing.
Commonwealth Avenue dubbed as Metro Manila’s “killer highway” has been the scene of many traffic accidents.
