Aftershocks continue to hit Surigao del Sur
MANILA, Philippines—Another round of aftershocks was recorded in the waters near Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Sunday.
Phivolcs’ earthquake bulletin showed that at least 25 aftershocks were felt on Sunday morning (as of 9:30 a.m.) in the vicinity of the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that hit 167 kilometers southeast of Surigao City last May 30.
Since the said earthquake hit, 3.1- to 5.5-magnitude aftershocks were reported in the area. The latest was a 4.8-magnitude tremor, with an epicenter 65 kilometers northeast of Cortes, Surigao del Sur.
