MANILA, Philippines—Former Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo Maranon Jr. has denied having had any transaction regarding his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) with Janet Lim-Napoles or any of her nongovernment organizations.
In a letter to the Inquirer, Maranon said his PDAF allocations “were not even enough to address the needs of the local government units in my districts.”
He added that in his years in Congress, he strictly followed protocols in PDAF disbursements, and had practiced transparency and probity in government dealings.
He said the matter should have been clarified with him before the Inquirer published his name in connection with Napoles’ alleged PDAF racket.
“The publication of the same causes damage to my reputation,” he added.—Leila B. Salaverria
