‎Convicted leader of robbery gang rushed to hospital

MANILA, Philippines–Convicted prisoner and robbery gang leader Roy Gilbert “Ampang” Colangco was temporarily taken out of the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City Tuesday evening to be admitted in a hospital.

A police source said Colangco, leader of the Ampangco-Colangco bank robbery group, was rushed to the Asian Hospital in Filinvest, Barangay (village) Alabang due to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) around 6 p.m.

According to the source, Colangco ‎will be confined at the hospital but did not specify until when.

The leader of the robbery group and his four cohorts were arrested in Iligan City in January 2009.

‎Colangco’s gang was responsible for the heists at the Banco de Oro branch in San Fernando, Pampanga in 2005; Asia Trust Bank branch in Ever Gotesco, Commonwealth in Quezon City in 2003; and the Prudential Bank Evacom branch in Parañaque City in 2003.‎
