/ 09:41 PM September 17, 2011

The body of the 7-year-old boy who fell into the Pasig River Friday afternoon was fished out on Saturday morning.

PO3 Joselito Barredo said the body of Paul George Martinez, a Grade 2 student, was found stuck in the water lilies near the shore, meters away from where the boy fell.

Investigators said that Martinez was walking below Bambang bridge around 5 p.m. when he accidentally slipped and fell into the water.

The high tide and a speeding boat pushed the boy away from the shore. Because he did not know how to swim, he drowned.
