Ayala Avenue closed to traffic for big parade

Starting at 10 p.m. today (Monday), May 26, traffic will be rerouted on Ayala Avenue in preparation for the celebration of Makati City’s 344th founding anniversary.

In a news release, the city government announced that it would hold a grand parade dubbed “Cultural Presentation of the Makateños” at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) on Ayala Avenue as part of a series of events to mark Makati’s 344th Foundation Day on June 1.

To make way for the construction of a stage in front of Tower One and Exchange Plaza, the westbound direction of Ayala Avenue from Makati Avenue to Paseo de Roxas will be off-limits to all vehicles starting at 10 p.m. today.

Westbound vehicles on Ayala Avenue from Edsa going toward Gil Puyat Avenue shall turn right on Makati Avenue, left on Paseo de Roxas and right on Ayala Avenue.  Light vehicles may turn left on Makati Avenue, right on Dela Rosa Street, right on Paseo de Roxas and left on Ayala Avenue.

Starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, the following roads will be closed to traffic:  eastbound direction of Ayala Avenue, from Gil Puyat Avenue to Makati Avenue; both directions of Paseo de Roxas, from Ayala Avenue to Dela Rosa Street; and northbound direction of Paseo de Roxas from Ayala Avenue to Sedeno Street.

Eastbound vehicles on Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue going toward Edsa should turn right on Makati Avenue and left on Ayala Avenue. Light vehicles may take H.V. dela Costa-Salcedo Streets and V.A. Rufino Street going toward Legaspi Village and Greenbelt.

The grand parade on Tuesday will have over 2,000 participants consisting of students from the drum and lyre and marching bands of the city’s public schools. Niña P. Calleja
