KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato, Philippines — Two persons – including a five-month-old child – died when a huge mango tree, uprooted by strong wind amid heavy rains, fell on a shanty in Midsayap, North Cotabato on Saturday, reports the police released on Sunday said.

Superintendent Renante de los Santos, Midsayap police chief, said Teresita Amorillo, 57, and her grandchild, Francis Tubal, were pinned to death by the huge tree that crashed into the shanty in Barangay (village) Salunayan around 5:30 p.m.
