Ilocos provinces to experience power interruptions

Power interruptions are set in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur starting Sunday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

In its website, NGCP said power interruption is set from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, in the following areas in Ilocos Norte – Pasuquin, Burgos, Bangui, Pagudpud, Adams, Dumalne, and Bacarra.

This is to give way for an ongoing project by the Northwind Power Development Corporation, it said.

Meanwhile, power interruption is set from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.on Tuesday, May 27, in the following areas – San Esteban, Santiago, Candon, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz, Tagudin, Suyo, Salcedo, Galimuyod, Banayoyo, Lidlida, Del Pilar, San Emilio, Sigay and Alilem.

This is to replace the wood poles and line hardwares along the power line between San Esteban and Candon.

“NGCP customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption,” the corporation said.

Power supply is usually short during summer when demand for electricity is high.

NGCP is a privately-owned corporation that operates and manages the country’s transmission superhighway. It, however, does not own and operate power-generating plants and local distribution utilities.
