MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a one-day modified truck ban scheme on Roxas Boulevard and Osmeña Highway to give way to the upcoming 23rd World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in Manila.
On Thursday, May 22, the truck ban will be two hours longer in the two thoroughfares—between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.—MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino announced on Tuesday.
The regular truck ban, which takes effect between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., will be reinstated the following day, May 23.
“We would only like to assure the efficient mobility of the WEF delegates in our major thoroughfares, especially in Makati and Pasay areas where the forum’s major events would take place,” Tolentino said.
The international conference will be held from May 21 to 23 in different venues within the two cities.
The forum, Tolentino stressed, was an important platform to showcase Metropolitan Manila and the Philippines as a viable economic, financial and investment hub to foreign visitors.
