MANILA, Philippines – With the World Economic Forum all set for Wednesday, the military said it hasn’t monitored any threats.
At the same time, Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman, said the Philippine National Police would take the lead in providing security to the delegates from 30 countries participating in the WEF, which the Philippines will host for the first time.
With 6,000 policemen to be deployed for the three-day event, threats are virtually nil, said Zagala.
Zagala added that the two participating heads of state – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam – were placed under the security of the Presidential Security Group.
