Fort Bonifacio blast investigation nearing completion

MANILA, Philippines-Almost two weeks since a blast hit the Philippine Army headquarters’ munition depot, the investigation is finally nearing its conclusion.

Major General Hernando Iriberri, Philippine Army Chief, said Monday morning that he expects to see the report early in the week.

“They already finished the investigation, they are now in the process to collate the statements,” Iriberri said at Fort Bonifacio.

“Anytime this week, the report will be finalized.”

Iriberri added that he has yet to determine possible sanctions should the investigations point at negligence as the cause of the fire.

“I said before whatever the result, if there are findings that there were any negligent actions, it’s my job to impose the proper actions.”
