Philippine Army to honor firefighters injured in blast

MANILA, Philippines—In honor of their bravery and service, members of the Bureau of Fire Protection and fire volunteers who responded to the Fort Bonifacio blaze are set to be honored on the same grounds on Monday.

In a statement, the Philippine Army said it would honor members of BFP Taguig and the fire volunteers who were injured after one of the storage facilities at the Army Support Command, which housed explosive materials, caught fire and exploded on May 7. Two died and 30 were injured during the incident.

The Army said that all firefighters who were injured were already treated and released on the same day of the blaze.
