THE British Council is making a last call for interested applicants to the I am a Changemaker competition for 2011.

The I am a Changemaker is a business plan competition, in partnership with Starbucks, that awards seed money to the best social enterprise idea.

Open to youth organizations aged between 16 and 28, the competition provides an opportunity for young people to implement their ideas.

A cash award of P100,000 will be given each to four youth groups from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and the National Capital Region.

There will also be a Starbucks Shared Planet award of P100,000 for the finalist group that best exemplifies Starbucks’ commitment to do good to the planet and to each other.

The deadline for entries is on Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.

Finalists will get the chance to attend a three-day training workshop on social enterprise development by UK social entrepreneur Tommy Hutchinson and Ateneo professors Vince Parisura and Edwin Salonga on Oct. 24 to 26 in Cebu.

The final round will be held in Cebu on Oct. 28.
