Four children killed in Quezon fire

MANILA, Philippines – At least four children were killed in a fire in Dolores, Quezon Friday night, a radio report said.

According to the investigation of Dolores police, 13-year-old Juana Rebenito, left a lighted candle at around 9 p.m in their wooden hut in Barangay Bulakin.

The house caught fire 45 minutes later, prompting Rebenito to go outside and call for help.

But when she returned, the hut was already ablaze, trapping four children – Ella Prudencio Medrano, eight years old; Jonmar Prudencio Medrano, six years old; Mark Prudenciano Rebenito, four years old; and one-year-old Jasmin Prudenciano Rebenito, both her siblings.

The parents of the children were not in the house and were in San Pablo city for work at the time of the fire, the report said.
