Pagasa verifying reports Angat Dam water level below critical level

MANILA, Philippines— The hydrometeorology division of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is now closely monitoring the water level of Angat Dam.

The water in Angat Dam on Sunday reached the critical level at 1 p.m. and there were reports that it hit below the critical level of 180.0 meters later in the afternoon.

Hydrologist Jason Bausa told INQUIRER.net they have yet to receive confirmation of the water level drop from their staff.

Once the water reaches the critical level, the protocol is to immediately cut the irrigation supply, and then, if the water continues to recede, the supply for electric power plants, Pagasa said.
