MANILA, Philippines – A foreign national died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in what police said was a suicide in Makati City Thursday.
Jeff Allen Klein, 60, an American national, shot himself in the mouth at the Jethro International Inc. Westpoint Gun Club, a firing range in Makati Square, said Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, Makati City police chief.
Lukban said Kline died at about 4:12 p.m.
Lukban said Kline entered the firing range at about 1 p.m. and started target practice.
After a few hours, Lukban said Kline asked an assistant of the club to get extra target papers. He said it was after the assistant left that a gunshot was heard and when the assistant came back to check, he found Kline sprawled dead on the floor with a 9-millimeter pistol.
Lukban said they were checking if Kline had any relatives as an investigation was ongoing.
Meanwhile, the building administrator said the shooting may have been an accident as witnesses claimed that Kline was fixing his gun.
