MANILA, Philippines – A day after one of its storage units caught fire and exploded, the Philippine Army is still in the dark as to what caused the blast that rocked Fort Bonifacio.

Philippine Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Noel Detoyato said there are no word yet from Fire Bureau and Army probers.

“Right now, we will wait for the results of the investigation,” Detoyato said Thursday on a quiet afternoon at the Army Support Command in Taguig.

Detoyato said that almost all explosive devices in their storage were either destroyed or heavily damaged.

He added that there is still no ballpark figure on the quantity of the explosive devices and ammunition used for instructional purposes.

“The Fire Bureau [experts] have conducted the investigation on the ground while the Ascom would collate the statements of those who witnessed the explosion,” Detoyato said.
