MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has given the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) the green light to resume the concrete reblocking along portions of the 23-kilometer Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa).
Earlier Wednesday, Reynaldo Tagudando, regional director for Metro Manila of the DPWH, said the immediate resumption of road repairs they aim to finish before the end of summer will depend on the approval of the MMDA.
In its Wednesday advisory, the MMDA announced the new schedule of the road reblocking works after it was postponed before and after the state visit of United States President Barack Obama in the Philippines last April 28 to 29.
The postponement of the road repairs was also made to give way to the May 3 evangelical mission of the Iglesia Ni Cristo at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City and the scheduled weekend sale at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong.
Starting Friday, May 9 until Monday, May 12, simultaneous road repairs on Edsa will be conducted.
From 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. on those dates, heavy traffic is expected in the following areas:
*Center lane of Visayas Avenue between Road 1 and Quezon Avenue in Quezon City
*Both northbound and southbound lanes of South Super Highway all under existing flyover from Magallanes to Arnaiz Avenue
*Northbound lane of Edsa between Quezon Avenue and Land Mark (3rd lane) in Quezon City
*Northbound lane of Edsa between Temple Drive and United Street in Mandaluyong City
