MANILA, Philippines—Used late-model cars that are sold online at a low price are likely to be “hot cars,” authorities have warned.
The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said interested car buyers should check with them first to see if their prospective buy is a stolen vehicle.
“We are looking at those announced on the Internet. We won’t mention the websites anymore. But we ask the public to check with us especially if the selling price is low,” HPG spokesperson Superintendent Elizabeth Velasquez said.
She said prospective buyers can call the HPG hotline 0906-3745375 for instructions on how to check online whether a vehicle is on the list of stolen motor vehicles.
