Publishing firm robbed of P325,000 in cash, valuables

MANILA, Philippines — Burglars broke into a publishing company over the weekend, ransacking the company owners’ offices of over P300,000 worth of cash and equipment in Quezon City.

The break-in was only discovered when the company opened for business on Monday morning.

According to a report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) La Loma station, taken from the second floor offices of the president and vice president of Bookman Inc, at the Bookman Building on Quezon Avenue in Barangay (village) Lourdes, were: P250,000 cash, a check for P40,000, and two cameras worth P35,000.

Based on the report of the La Loma station commander, Superintendent Osmundo De Guzman, the burglary happened sometime between 6 p.m., closing time, of May 3 and 6 a.m. of Monday.

De Guzman said that the burglars climbed an electrical pole and broke a window to gain access to the offices of Bookman president and owner Lina Picache-Enriquez as well as company vice-president Erwin Enriquez.

The thieves ransacked the offices, forcing open locked cabinets and drawers and taking the valuables kept inside, before fleeing with the loot.

The La Loma station commander said that the burglary was discovered on Monday morning by an employee, who opened the company for business, and found the offices in disarray.

De Guzman said that his men have been conducting follow-up operations for the possible identification and arrest of the robbers and the recovery of the stolen items.
