BAGUIO CITY—Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas, known here for his work in human rights and mass transport issues, died on Sunday, surprising many residents here. Fariñas was 61.
Olga Abuan, city secretary, said Fariñas died at Notre Dame de Chartres Hospital at 7:33 a.m.
Abuan said the vice mayor was taken to the hospital on Friday when his blood pressure dropped suddenly.
