2 women shot dead separately in QC

MANILA, Philippines — Two women were gunned down in separate attacks, an hour apart, on Sunday, in Quezon City.

Quezon City police investigators identified the slain women as: Aurora Lumahan, 48, of Adarna Extension, Purok 14, Riverside Street, in Barangay (village) Commonwealth; and 35-year-old Jennifer Barredo, of Sitio (sub-village) Sto. Niño, Chestnut Extension, Barangay West Fairview. Both victims died instantly after they were shot in the head.

PO3 Erickson Isidro, of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) revealed that the first killing happened at around 11 a.m. on Sunday along Adarna Extension, Purok 12, Riverside Street in Barangay Commonwealth.

Lumahan, her eight-year-old daughter in tow, was reportedly buying vegetable from a corner store when a man approached her and suddenly shot her twice in the face before running away.

Isidro said that the shooter, according to witnesses, had a handkerchief tied around his face to conceal his identity.

The second killing happened at around 12:30 p.m., along Florentina Dulo, Nitang Avenue in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches.

The QCPD-CIDU investigator, SPO1 Pascual Fabreag, said Barredo was walking along the Florentina Dulo Alley when she was shot in the forehead.

Fabreag said that nobody witnessed the actual shooting and the body was only discovered after a resident in the area heard gunfire and decided to investigate.

QCPD-CIDU investigators are still trying to piece together the possible motives in the two hits.
